Mental Health Act Information Sessions for Program Managers and MH Clinicians

We received advice late yesterday afternoon from the Mental Health Unit of SA Health that they would like to extend invitations for MH Program Managers (or equivalent) and Mental Health clinicians to attend the following information sessions about the new Mental Health Act that takes effect from 21 July this year.  Please note that the intent with the sessions for the clinicians is for Shared Care clinicians to attend in the first instance.  There are approximately 20 spaces available for each session.

Mental Health Program Managers, or equivalent, are invited to a Half Day Information Session to be held on:
Date:      Friday 30 April 2010
Time:      9.00 am to 12.30 pm
Venue:    Red Cross Training Centre
              229 Marion Road
              MARLESTON

In addition there are two half-day Information Sessions available for MH Shared care clinicians.  Participants should attend one of the sessions on either:
Date:       Friday 21st May 2010
Time:      9.00 am to 12.30 pm
Venue:    Red Cross Training Centre
              229 Marion Road
              MARLESTON

Date:       Friday 28th May 2010
Time:       1pm -4.30pm
Venue:     Red Cross Training Centre
               229 Marion Road
               MARLESTON

Please RSVP to Sue Billett about interested participants via sue.billett@gpsa.org.au.

We have been advised that the MH Unit is currently working with CHSA MH Executive to advance information sessions to Country GP’s. Final dates will require further planning and they have advised that they will liaise with GPSA to determine who is best placed within the Divisions to organise information sessions for interested Country GPs.  I will update the Rural Divisions as soon as I have more information about this.
Education sessions for other GPs have not been finalised as yet.  We will let you know when we have more information.

The attached bulletin provides additional detail about this and includes the Friday 30 April session.  The sessions in May have been added for the benefit of Division clinical staff.  click here
