Divisions Network eHealth Support Program
Overview:
The focus of the eHealth team is to support the roll-out of the Divisions Network eHealth Support Program throughout SA, in collaboration with Divisions of General Practice in SA.
This includes assisting Divisions and their members in developing high quality electronic health systems by improving the safety and quality of care, and other efficiencies, through the timely capture, use and exchange of clinical and administrative data.
Program Objective
This Program aims to provide support and education to General Practice Networks to allow them to support the primary care sector to adopt and continue to use eHealth systems and services as they become available.
Program Outcome Aims
- Improve capacity in theprimary care sector to use and adapt available eHealth systems and services in accordance with the Naional E-Health Strategy.
- Improve communication between healthcare providers and service delivery facilities.
- Increase eHealth literacy and information management capacity across the Network through theprovision of education to general practice network staff.
- Increase the integration of information management, eHealth and dayta governance principles into the delivery of core general practice network services and programs.
- Promote the benefits of eHealth through the continual identification and dissemination of information, resources, and lessons learned.
- Provide reliable and nationally consistent data on the capapcity and use of eHealth systems and services via engagement with general practice networks.
- State-level advocacy and facilitation of communication between key stakeholders.
- Improve the consistency ofeHealth messages delivered through the Network nationally.
- Improve the quality and management of data nation-wide by developing and maintaining a national methodology and framework.
Resources
eHealth PIP: The eHealth PIP (Practice Incentive Program) replaces the current IM/IT PIP in August 2009. Medicare has commenced distributing PIP Guidelines and Application Forms to all practices. Details of the program can be found on the DoHA website and the Medicare website.
To be eligible for the PIP eHealth Incentive, practices must:
- have a secure messaging capability, which is provided by an eligible supplier
- have (or have applied for) a location/site Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate for the practice and each practice branch, and make sure that each practitioner from the practice has (or has applied for) an individual PKI certificate
- provide practitioners from the practice with access to a range of key electronic clinical resources.
